Yesterday, we had the pleasure of throwing our very first Care Conference. The afternoon’s celebrations were all centred on the most important people of all… our staff members and service users.
Our seven Apollo Franchise Teams based around the Northwest attended, bringing staff members and service users with them. We were very excited to have famous Liverpool playwright, Jimmy McGovern giving out our awards as well as Wirral’s Deputy Mayor and Mayoress being in attendance.
One very special lady also attended, Peggy from Charles Thompson’s Mission in Birkenhead. Peggy has recently been awarded an MBE for her outstanding contribution for her 80 years volunteering in the Mission and it was a great joy to speak to her and listen to her stories. We held a raffle too, with all proceeds going to Thompson’s Mission, such a worthy cause.
After everyone had tucked into the lovely buffet and drinks provided, Managing Director Cheryl White opened the proceedings and welcomed everyone. The Franchise Managers then read out testimonies from service users. Actually hearing how Apollo Care has affected people’s lives in such a positive way really brought home what wonderful staff we have and made us feel extremely proud.
Next, Sue White announced the winners of the staff awards for which we had received so many nominations, we had a difficult time deciding on!
The whole of our South Wirral team were also recognised by client’s family members for the outstanding care their relative had received.
The afternoon was a great success, as we wanted our staff to know how valued and appreciated they as the outstanding care they provide is the very reason for Apollo Care being started.
We look forward to celebrating this every year and growing our teams from 95 care staff providing care for 185 clients at present. Watch this space….
